Our Mighty Groove Young Dancers Auditions & R&D Week

We had an incredible week as we held auditions for the young cast of Our Mighty Groove, our remake of an Uchenna classic that is opening the brand new Sadler’s Wells venue in Stratford next year.

Our professional cast joined us, alongside Artistic Director, Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu, Associate Choreograpgher, Kloe Dean and rehearsal director Joanne Bernard. We also had a surprise visit from our Musical Director and Composer, Kweku Aacht, all the way from Ghana!

Over the course of the week, the young dancers were given professional dance class every morning in styles including Waacking, African Contemporary, House and Hip Hop. They also experienced what it’s like to take an idea and develop it over a few days alongside a team, gaining knowledge in the behind the scenes of how dance shows are made and were encouraged to explore their own creativity.

We were so blown away by the spirit and talent of all that came to spend the week with us. The Uchenna family continues to grow!
