Uchenna is delighted to announce that we are entering an exciting new phase by developing a pioneering dance and leadership programme for 18-24 year olds. Founded on Uchenna’s mission to empower, entertain and educate, the programme will focus on professional dance training through the lens of Uchenna, alongside developing leadership skills that support young people to reclaim their bodies, unleash their full creative potential and thrive as an artist.
Uchenna decided to begin on this journey as we saw first hand the challenges and barriers that young people face in accessing quality training and opportunities, particularly those disadvantaged by the hierarchical systems in place. We hope to offer a nurturing educational programme based on Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu’s and Grace Okereke’s many years of experience in the industry, teaching, and talent development. As we enter the next phase of development, we will be seeking the voices of young dancers’ to understand their experiences, needs and aspirations in the dance industry.
